(Cont’d) - Positive Thinking up the Yin-Yang

This morning, Rhonda sent out her latest “Secret Scrolls” email message, titled “How do I Stop my Negative Thoughts?” I opened it to see if she would address that misdirected desire in a responsible way or not.
“What a pile of crap!” I said out loud.
“Write about it,” said Barry. So I am.
This is how her email starts out:
“How do I stop my negative thoughts?” - is a question that I have been asked many times. If you have ever asked this question then you will feel such enormous relief in knowing the answer, because it is so simple. How do you stop negative thoughts? You plant good thoughts!
She later goes on to say:
As you plant more and more good thoughts, the negative thoughts will be wiped out. Why? Because your focus is on good thoughts, and what you focus on you attract.
So don’t give any attention to negative thoughts. Don’t worry about them. If any come, make light of them, shrug them off, and let them be your reminder to deliberately think more good thoughts now.
The more good thoughts you can plant in a day, the faster your life will be utterly transformed into all good.
No wonder so many people have misinterpreted this movie as being an update of “The Power of Positive Thinking”.
Okay, I admit - I actually started this mission looking for those same feel-good ideals, and searching for a way to be positive all the time.
But the more I interviewed the experts, the more I realized IT CAN’T BE DONE!
And guess what… IT’S NOT MEANT TO BE DONE!
You can hear Dr. John Demartini explain the concept to me as plain as day in my interview with him, and in fact in the clip that we included free in our acclaimed talking ebook. You are not supposed to be 100% positive, you never will be 100% positive, and if you strive for more than a 50-50 balance you’ll experience the realignment and rebalance in another area of your life, because the Universe keeps everything balanced all the time.
Try too hard to be super-positive, and you’ll experience a wave of super-negative to balance it out. That’s what we call bi-polar.
But here’s the rub… while that interview with Dr. Demartini slapped me hard and made me look at the world in a whole new way, he shared the exact same information with Rhonda and her team. And they IGNORED it!
They shot a 6-hour interview with him, going deep into metaphysical concepts and quantum physics, and only used a few clips: “What you think about, and thank about, you bring about.”
Nice, cute, easy to remember. Very succinct, very simple, very ‘The Secret’. Good sound bite. Kinda like “Ask, Believe, Receive”.
And yes, it’s true, and it’s very impactful.
But it’s NOT representative of John’s entire work, and his most powerful and life-changing info was left out of the movie deliberately because it wasn’t as feel-good simple as that phrase: “What you think about, and thank about, you bring about.”
I’m not saying you won’t benefit from reframing the way you look at things, seeing the “good” (whatever that means to you) instead of the “bad” (whatever that means to you) in any given situation. But this type of reframing isn’t just about replacing “bad” thoughts with “good” thoughts, it’s about realizing that what you label “bad” and “good” is simply subjective and the fact is that “it is what it is,” as our friend Nick Arandes says.
And it’s about realizing that sometimes what you thought was “bad” was really more beneficial than you could have ever imagined, and in fact is bringing you closer to your ultimate life that you’ve been manifesting all along.
Some people thought when I got laid off from my full-time job of three years that it was “bad”. I kept insisting it was “good”, and that the full-time internet lifestyle was what I really wanted, no matter how badly “they” wanted me to find a new J.O.B. So I followed my heart, and here I am.
If it helps you to think a simple thought like “every cloud has a silver lining,” go ahead. If you like the ring of “it is what it is,” use that. But please don’t strive for a 100% positive life like Rhonda would have you believe is desirable, or even possible. It’s just not true!
In the May-June issue of Spirituality & Health magazine, Rabbi Rami Shapiro wrote an article called “What Do You Think of ‘The Secret’?” In it, he says:
Craving perfection is like craving backs without fronts, and peaks without valleys. Perfection and imperfection go together and make no sense without each other. Obsessing over perfection can only generate a sense of self-loathing and drive us deeper into despair.
‘The Secret’ brought the ideas behind the Law of Attraction into the public eye. But just the Law of Attraction. And the Law of Attraction works in conjunction with a lot of other Universal laws when it comes to manifesting our realities.
The law we need to be looking at here is the Law of Polarity, which tells us that:
(1) anything can be split into two wholly opposite characteristics; and
(2) each of these polar elements contains the potentiality of the other within its essence.
That’s why you can’t be 100% positive, because there’s no positive without negative, no black without white, no yin without yang. And in fact the “positive” contains negative and the “negative” contains positive.
Think of two magnets. Put them one way and they attract each other. The other way and they repell each other. You can’t have the positive end of the magnet without the negative, and vice-versa.
There’s no such thing as a 100% positive magnet, just like there’s no such thing as a 100% positive you.
So don’t beat yourself up over negative thoughts. Don’t send yourself into a downward spiral because you think you “should” be thinking or reacting some other way. What will you have accomplished by doing that?
Accept the polarity of nature and work within it. You can keep the highs and lows balanced toward the middle of the scale if you don’t want to experience extreme bi-polar highs and lows, but know that the opposites in your life are meant to be there.
And start to realize that it’s not a case of the glass being half-full or half-empty; it’s always 100% full of two opposing elements (water and air, for instance), just like you are, and that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.

I appreciate this message, however, I do have to say that we can’t just make up “laws,” like the “law of polarity,” just because it’s convenient. Also, taking the logic of “the law of polarity” further, if we really are to be fully balanced all the time, and the “scales” don’t care what kind of weights are put on the scale, then if we ever go forward in one area of our lives, we’ll go backwards in another area…basically going nowhere. I don’t think that happens, and I don’t think it happens if we understand the, ooooh, drum roll, please…
skill of transformation
Nothing “is what it is,” or maybe it is at the first moment, but then it “is what you make it,” and when you make it, you can choose what you make it into, and when you’re done, you’ve “made it.” You’ve transformed stress into vitality, or something negative into something positive.
So, learning the skills necessary to transform energies is our task.
Rhonda is doing her best, as are you guys.
Dainis,
I can promise you nobody here, including Heather, is making up universal laws just for the sake of cutsey conveniency.
The Law of Polarity really (yes, truly) exists and you can learn more about it here via one of our older blog post:
“Is the Law of Attraction Attention Starved?”
http://mosweblog.com/was-the-law-of-attraction-attention-starved/
Hello,
I resonate with your comments regarding the positive and negative thing. I’ve thought a lot about it over the years and felt disinclined to remove myself from my negative frame of mind in favor of the more positive one i was encouraged to adopt by all and sundry as a solution. The way i logically rationalised my determination to resist falling for the “think positive” suggestions that seem impossible to avoid being exposed to at every turn, was, and still is to argue that if i think positive then i will not be able to detach from that mindset to flow into whatever the evolution of human consciousness brings up next. The reason i argue that i will not be able to detach from it is because i will be enjoying my positivity too much, whereas i will be far more willing to drop my negativity when i encounter a new alternative that i believe will become apparent with the evolution of consciousness that seems likely to be our destiny, at least as a collective.
However, I think Esther Hicks puts it in a way that can allow for the continuance of negativity and positivity without trying to place oneself into either camp exclusively. Her suggestion, or one of them, is to appreciate the thinking about things that one doesnt want by seeing them as a reminder to think about the things we do want. In such a way we can continue to indulge in negative thinking if thats what we want to do while at the same time benefitting from an increasing degree of discipline over what we choose to think about, such increasing degree of discip[line deriving from the practice of deliberately choosing to think about what we do want with regard to the topics that we find ourselves thinking about in a way that we dont want:)

Greetings Heather & Barry!
Great post Heather. You folks are doing a great job of expanding and deepening our understanding since “The Secret”.
I agree with Heather that trying to control your thoughts is a recipe for suffering. And I think there’s something even more crucial going on here that NOBODY talks about in “The Secret”. I’ll get to that in a minute.
First of all, this ridiculous idea of “controlling your thoughts”…
We each have somewhere in the region of 2 million thoughts every day. Do you really think you can control all of that? Do you even know what your next thought is going to be? For me, trying to control every thought is a waste of energy and creates it’s own problems.
As Heather suggests, rather than trying to control your thoughts (which sets you up for more negative thoughts), far better to change your relationship to your thoughts. Practice stepping back and observing your thoughts without prejudice and you’ll begin to free yourself from their tyranny. That’s why, for me, practicing the art of meditation is a crucial piece of this puzzle. I’ll explain in a minute.
But even more crucially than that, your thoughts are NOT the key factor when it comes to manifesting new realities.
Picture a captain and crew exploring the horizon. Who gives the orders and who runs the ship? Yes, the captain is in charge and the crew runs the ship.
When the captain and crew are working well together, the captain gives the orders and the crew makes it happen immediately. When captain and crew don’t work together, the journey takes longer and there might even be a mutiny!
Your TOTAL focus determines your reality - not just your thoughts.
The real challenge is that only about 5% of your focus is what you’re thinking in your head. There’s hundreds, maybe thousands of crew but only one captain.
That’s why on the surface people might want to be wealthy, but deep down they have limiting beliefs around money. They might think thoughts of attracting the perfect relationship, but deep down they might have repressed anger toward the opposite sex etc.
For me, your internal congruency is EVERYTHING when it comes to manifesting.
If there ever was a “secret” to manifesting, it’s to harness the power of your ENTIRE being, not just your surface thoughts. I believe to do that effectively we need to let go of old patterns, even our notion of self and allow ourselves to be transformed from the ground up. Just like anything else, this takes practice.
For me, a daily mind-body practice is essential. This allows me to create the space where I feel anything is possible from my core, I connect to Source and get the guidance and direction so I sense where I’m going, I re-energize and re-focus on what’s right for me to attract. Plus I get to be happy in the here and now which is always a good thing
Keep up the good work guys.
Peace,
Matt Clarkson

We are here all on this planet, based on being attracted by our common axiom’s and that includes positive and negative. We need both to value them, we need comparison to become aware of a situation, a thought, before we can come into action. I have seen a lot of people- too much- who inspired by ‘positive thinking’ became totally mad. And I know how much they did their utmost to ‘think and act positive’, long before the hype of the Law of Attraction came in the picture. And this were people who lived a rather spiritual life. What must it become, if people who are accidently discovering ‘the Secret’ while lacking the right guidance?
Years ago I was reading in the Bhagavad Gita, where Arjuna is asking Krishna “What is the right action and intention” and Krishna answer is(free interpretation, I do not have the text with me): When you act and think on base of attraction, the fruits will taste sweet. When you act because you have expectations of the results, these fruits will taste sour”.
When positive thinking is based on the fear for negativity, the basic thought is fear. When someone is busy with a positive thought, action because he is attracted to it, at least the pleasure of being busy with it will be rewarding. The circumstances, culture and like mindedness of others will influence the effect of it, But upright intentions will be undisturbed and the doer will have his/her fun at that moment, within that concept.
With Love,
Farida
Hello All,
The Law Of Polarity is really better described as the the Law Of Relativity, which has been completely described in Quantum Physics by Einstein and others. It is most often referenced in terms of space travel/speed of light & distance. However, it also elegantly describes the existence of the so called (for reference purposes) positve and negative of everything in existance at the same time, but not necessarily in the same space at the same time. My take on “The Secret,” (The Law Of Attraction) is that each of us has the choice to focus on either of these reference points of negative or positive and thereby attract the effect of that focussed reference point into our lives. Clearly, the decision about what is determined as being negative or positive is a personal matter for each of us to make and not open to discussion from elsewhere. On that basis I would suggest that discussions of the rights or wrongs of another persons point of view are misguided and falacious at best and we would be better to focus the enjoyment of our better life in whatever form we choose that to be.
Happy attracting from Stuart
Okay, let’s take it one step further.
We know there’s good and bad. And, trying to just think “positive” can burn you out.
One of my favorite things is this: people try to re-label the word “problem.” As one parent of a mentally disabled child once stated, “Calling me child by the label of mentally disabled does not solve her retardation.”
Also, in the famous re-creation of Apollo 13, you didn’t hear Tom Hanks say: “Houston, we have a gap here that needs to be bridged.”
Identify a problem as a problem. And, then find a way to deal with it. If you want to look for the “silver lining” in the problem, fine, but develop a plan of action to take advantage of it. If you want to overcome the problem, by taking action, then take action.
The key is this: don’t whine and moan about it. Do something about it.
Just my two cents. (Love the blog!)
Make it a great day!
There isn’t a “law” in existence that we haven’t “made up.”
I appreciate this site, I am grateful for what the team has put together. Also, I’ve become a pretty darn good “manifestor,” or “manifestator.” I live in my own utopic “manifestopolis.” My thoughts become things, and I find it neato…so, yes, I employ the “law of attraction.”
But, calling it such, as opposed to calling it the “theory of attraction,” is a bit over the top. It really is.
Why?
Because things do exist in my reality that I have not created.
Also, if I really created my ENTIRE reality, then there would only be me. No one else would exist. Also, I am responsible for everything. Sorry about the floods folks, my bad. That bridge thing…oops…I was online watching YouTube videos of Martial Arts Tricks…kind of forgot about the structural integrity of bridges for a while…sorry!
I don’t think it’s really very worthwhile to just take every virtue and every vice, along with certain neato sounding verbs and nouns and just put “the law of…” in front of them.
The law of love, compassion, forgiveness, greed, death, vanity, forgiveness.
And the law of “polarity” or “balance” implies that if I forgive someone now, someone somewhere is going to be “unforvigen,” and guess what, at least in my “reality,” that’s just not true.
Forgiveness heals. Healing does not cause someone else out there to be wounded. If it did, then no one in good conscience could ever heal, because of the “pain” they are causing on the other side.
So, in summary, yes, we are making up these “laws,” and, in fact, they are “theories.” These theories are now being tested…which is fun!
Many blessings,
Dainis
Ok, I have to completely disagree. I think the Law of Polarity, which I have always known but never had a name for, is not about THINKING. It is about the physical world.
I have had some pretty nasty stuff happen to me in my life. And in the midst of those nasty events, I would have negative thoughts, generated primarily by the instict to survive. However, I’ve always had this sense that everything would be ok. I always, always say to myself, “At least ….” knowing that any given situation I am in could be so much worse.
In essence, I have always found the positive in the negative, even in the most abusive situations, myabe not in the moment, but shortly afterward. Then I would reflect on those painful situations and figure out how they helped me. Thus finding even more postive.
I actually failed a pyschologist’s personality test because the results showed I put a postive spin on everything, which then voided the rest of the answers I gave.
I suppose what I’m really doing is recognizing the Polarity of the WORLD and use the simple fact that there are always far worse situations than mine to keep my life and my thoughts on the positive side of the teeter-totter.
It is what it is.
Something happens and I believe the law of Attraction is responsible for it, whatever it is. However, once again we have a choice. We first decide if it is positive or negative in our life. Then we decide what to do with it. Every negative thing is there for us to learn something from. We will never have something so negative that we can’t overcome it. We won’t get more than we can handle. The Universe knows our limits and sometimes takes us way on out to that point so we can learn but never past it. When the negative thing comes, we decide whether we build a life of negativity around it or do we look closely and find out what we were intended to learn from it. From every negative some positive comes. That would be a good part of a law of polarity. When negativity comes, just learn from it and look for the next positive. Give more attention to positive things, though and get done with negative as expeditiously as possible because there are good things on the way and you must be ready to enjoy and be grateful for them. I believe that is how the Laws work.
Dear Friends,
For me it comes to one thing – Free will. How many times something “bad” happened to you what turned out to be the best thing what could ever happen at that point of time?
I believe that sometimes you need to get upset, you need the negative feeling to be able to know and appreciate the positive one. Now what Exactly is a positive and what is a negative thinking? I came across of different descriptions from different people – meaning what is a positive thinking for one person does not necessarily is a positive for a second one.
In one book long time ago ( I apologize to the author of this quote but forgot his name) I read “ If you think that you need to be positive all the time just to your car and unplug the negative plug from your car battery. How far will you go? “
People who know me say that I am very loving, peaceful and patient person. Every time I would think something negative I fell ashamed of that. I worried that I will hurt someone felling. I had no right to judge, I felt like horrible person. So I dismissed all negative. You know what I ended up with? High blood pressure.
Coming back what I said on start- Free will.
I think it is ok sometimes to get upset – then try to figure out what really cause it and what steps you need to take to heal this.
I think we should not try hard to dismiss our negative thoughts, because finding the underling reason for the negative thoughts and healing them will get us to the place where we will be happy and in harmony. Place where we actually appreciate when the negative thought will come.
I love the move “ The Secret” and think everyone should see it. But also believe it is just a start- there is so much more to be said.
Thank you for a great job you guys are doing.
With Love
Lucia
I think it is good that you had the courage to say this. I heard about the Law of Polarity many years before I heard about the Law of Attraction. If anything, ‘The Law of Attraction’ is the newcomer - at least in name. Twenty or more years ago we talked about vibration and polarity and other terms. ‘Law oif Attraction is simply a name that people in the twenty first century can resonnate to - that’s all. A year ago people started talking about ‘The Secret’ and ‘The Law of Attraction’. When I first watched ‘The Secret’ I discovered that it was something I had learned about in my youth and not a secret at all.
When I watched the video it struck me that it would evoke different responses from different people; Some would think the positive thought angle ‘too good to be true’ and just ignore the whole thing, others would go overboard on it. Of those who went overboard I expected that some would give up after a short while, thoroughly disillusioned and some would go on to discover the REAL secret - that is they would realise that there was more to it than that and they would understand the principles involved on a more subtle level. On the way there, they’d have a lesson or two for us as well.
It is certainly true that we need the negative as well as the positive. All newcomers to these principles have to learn this eventually. Along with this, students of these principles have to learn to not judge others. If there is any one thing we should warn beginners about it is this; “If you think that people who are apparently experiencing bad luck are in some way ignorant of the Law of Attraction or at a lower rate of vibration than you or less enlightened than you, you are deluding yourself and missing an important lesson. The Universe will use any method it can to help you to learn and sometimes it gives you what appears to be a magic carpet - and then pulls it out from under you. Anyone who does not approach these principles in a spirit of humility is riding for a fall.” That applies to any one of us. We are all students -as long as we are on this earth.
I agree with Dainis. I’ve listened to Dr. J’s interview, and I do not agree that everything - all positivity and negativity - is in perfect balance.
If that was the case, then every human birth would need to be balanced with a human death, and it’s obvious that’s not true. As Dainis mentioned, every movement forward would have to balanced with a movement backwards. Even if you argue that perhaps the changes or differences are not in the same area of our lives, it still doesn’t work. If one area of our lives improved dramatically, one would suffer dramatically. Also not the case.
It does seem to work in some general ways, but then so does almost every idea that anyone in this field teaches. I know that Dr. J doesn’t put it so simply, but on the surface, what he’s claiming doesn’t work. My issue with the concept is that it’s not universal. You can’t pick and choose where or when it’s applicable, if it’s going to be a ‘law’.
This isn’t Pollyanna - I’m not saying Rhonda’s idea that by ignoring negative thoughts they’ll eventually just go away and you’ll eventually be 100% positive - but think about the universe itself. Is it in a perfect, 50/50 balance of growth vs death/contraction? No. It’s constantly expanding. Expansion = …
You could just as easily argue this with the broad scope of the law of attraction / our deep seated beliefs / “what we focus on expands” / (fill in your favorite) — that Dr. J’s experience is the result of his beliefs and what he’s attracted into his life. He’s attracted a life of 50/50 positivity and negativity. He experiences this balance because that is his absolute belief, it is his reality.
Again, I’m not saying you should expect or even attempt for a moment to be 100% positive - I agree that it’s just not something that we as humans can ever achieve. But what we can do is strive to be on the positive side of the equation.
The Universe is. All of Life is. If it wasn’t, what would our planet look like?
You just have to step back for a moment. Would we be able to grow, at all, if this law was fact?
If you believe in the law of attraction, ‘thoughts become things’, in the concepts of quantum physics, that we create our own reality at every moment - what does that tell you about any of this? If you want a reality of a 50/50 balance, it’s your choice, always. Always. Just takes a LOT of practice, either way.
I still don’t get it. Call me backwards or what you like, but what is the meaning of “every polarity contains the seed of its opposite” when you take it *ethically*?
E.g. here in Switzerland there was just the case of the kidnapping of a five year old girl. The kidnapper killed himself shortly afterwards, after shooting and injuring somebody else severly, no trace of the girl, large searches to no avail. Now where does this “contain the possibility of the opposite”?
Now please don’t say “It’ll help wake up society to prevent things like that in the future” - because that would be circular reasoning, just showing that at least this form of badness should be eradicated completely.
I always find it mind-boggling how people can get lost and - seemingly? - almost brainwashed into admiring their yin and yang signs and saying “There is no absolute evil”. Yes of course there is, but why don’t they want to acknowledge it?
Those kinds of philosophical cobwebs fly away once one tries applying them to a *specific* case (and certainly more dramatic ones than the abovementioned could be found).
Don’t you agree?
Not really…the blessing of this tragedy and many many more may not be ours to behold aside from the compassion and empathy reminder it gives to us all. This is all for forgiveness and above all love. A little girl gave her life and set into action a series of events. It is unlikely we can begin to comprehend the magnitude of her light that shines and will guide the beings that are closest to her. We may never know as we are only indirectly involved. There is a higher purpose at work here.
Pray for peace, love, understanding and forgiveness for all of mankind even the evil doers.
“Praise those which do not have to say anything and just keep their mouth shut”
Well said Heather! Lucky I do not know Rhonda….If I would be a truly good friend of her, I would instantly recommend her, to keep thoughts like this private…Do I really have to say more?
“I choose not to be a coward…I am just polite”
Why? If a human doesn’t get it, we can at least transmit a lot of love.
Please send Rhonda thoughts of unconditional love. Thank you all for your action.
I agree with you totally regarding ‘positive thinking’. For years my own growth was hampered by the confusion of thinking that I wouldn’t be able to move into abundance, or a life that looked like the one I wanted, or even simply peace until I had gotten rid of my ‘negative thinking’, hangups or whatever else people wanted to call it. I came from a background of extreme abuse and it would infuriate me when people would make the snap judgement that I wasn’t able to ‘attract’ a better life because I was ‘hung up on my past’. I eventually stopped communicating about it entirely because their view was such a closed system.
I have only just in the past 24 hours fully realised the degree that this positive thinking wibble is a trap: because it’s an impossible goal that is constantly tied into our ability- or lack of ability- to manifest our visions (or so it is oft repeated), the possibility of moving beyond the limitations of our lives is nil. Your post actually helped click this understanding for me and it’s been a really interesting 24 hours or so since, yet I *can* say that for the first time in my life, I have some idea of how my life CAN actually be awesome and not held captive to the inevitable limitations of the legacy of my past and that of my birth family. I don’t have to BE ‘perfect’ in order to manifest the life of my dreams! Thankyou so much.
The Law of Attraction goes way beyond “positive thinking.” Everything is vibration. If your energetic vibration matches that which you desire, you will manifest it into your life. In fact, whatever you focus on, you create, whether it’s what you want or what you don’t want. The thoughts (energetic vibrations) that you broadcast, find matching vibrations and bring that energy back to you.
Your emotions will tell you if your thoughts (energetic vibrations) are in alignment with your higher purpose (or Soul’s purpose, or God’s purpose, however you choose to look at it). Rather than trying to control your thoughts, focus on adjusting your emotions. By focusing on gratitude and other positive attitudes, you can certainly improve your emotions and, therefore, your thoughts. Will you be “perfect” at this? No. But you can make considerable improvement in the quality of your thoughts!

Yes, I agree with the idea about the existence of the yin/yang polarities in our live as in the entirely Universe.
When people may understand this low, (old as the world after the Hermes teachings) then all of us will have the possibility to action with this.
If we rcieve a life lesson and we learn something about,we may transform the “bad” thing in one “positive” so we are able to move forward and progress.
After all,we are here with this goal of our soul,to learn all the life lessons and to obtain a spiritual progress but only when we all are conscient about this important mission.
It is necessary also to believe in the low of “karma” and to think that sometime we recieve the “bad” things with the scope to ‘pasy” our duties from another life.
With these belief we are able to support the present life,to learn from our mistakes and bed decisions and so,to have an equilibrum between yin/yang or all the possible polaritieas.
Thank you,
Aurora
Even Jesus got angry with the money lenders in the Temple, so he was not 100% positive all the time.
If we set aside EGO and do not try to feel more important than anyone else, we become free to express ourselves in the way that FREEWILL intended.
The Ten Commandments are the guiding rules on the very best way to live a life of abundance and love for all things God has created. God scored these rules into stone while in conversation with Moses.
The Bible is the “interpretation” by man of what the Desciples believed Jesus was telling them. The Bible was written 400 years after Christ died, and the stories were handed down by Folklore.
Quantum Physics says that everything in the word is a clone of original source energy (a spark of love thatn jumped out of a fire on the first day of creation.
We are Souls (God’s children) having an adventure on planet earth in a human body. If we look after the body, we may live 100 years, if not we go back to Heaven a lot sooner.
Jesus simply said, “ask and ye shall receive if you truly believe in me”. So if you believe God’s energy is inside you, then you will live forever - and even a 1,000 nuclear bombs cannot destroy you - it might obliterate your physical body, but you (the Soul) can never die, you will just go on another adventure (because God loves all his children and will never allow them to be harmed).
Jesus also said that man would be able to do all that he could do, AND MORE.
Children are born with the belief that there are no limitations, but we soon impose thousands of rules on them to bring them into line with societie’s expectations.
When a person decides to set aside EGO and recapture the magic and innocence of childhood that anything is possible, reality changes overnight, and all limits are set aside.
When one sets aside the cravings for physical possessions, it is in that moment that one realises that everything that mankind desires has already been created. We just need to claim it.
If a family in Afganistan has a thin tent to survive the intense winter cold, they feel as though they are incredibly rich.
If you have warmth, food and shelter and some good friends, you should be incredibly grateful - because there is always someone worse off than you.
The world is balanced with polarity, but there will always be people who wish to use God’s energy to cause themselves lots of stress. They keep attracting it to themselves. It is a form of self-punishment. You won’t be burned up in Hell at the end of the world. You create your own Hell by your own thoughts.
The Secret helped me to see where I was going wrong, and I now realise that I already have riches beyond my wildest imagination”.
Abundance is flowing to me easily and effortlessly now because my eyes were opened up- and as fast as new abundance comes, I am sharing it with others - but I have found that the more I give away, even more comes back to me. It ties in with the loaves and fishes story in the Bible, what I focus on keeps expanding.
If I shout across the valley, “I love you”, love always comes back to me in the echo.
Pretend (and act) happy and the full power of God’s energy will surge through you and attract beuatiful things.
Jesus also said, “turn your back on what you no longer want in your life” - stop looking at it, stop thinking about it, don’t waste time and energy on it.
Focus only on what you want to receive, and HOLD THAT FOCUS and do not allow mind chatter to interrupt your desires.
Trying to fix up the bad things in your life is a pointless stressful exercise.
Ask yourself: -
What don’t you want in your life ?
What would you rather have ? (the opposite)
Say thankyou for your past life experiences (good and bad), and kiss them goodbye with gratitude.
From this moment on, just focus on what you desire and where you wish to go.
If you wish to arrive in Melbourne, don’t keep thinking about Spain, Italy, Scotland, France and Belgium - these are mind chatter distractions which will slow down your manifestation.
Manifestation of your wishes is child’s play. Go to a quiet spot and “still your mind” in alpha meditation entrainment for 30-60 mins - then simply trust that your gifts are on the way.
I often use the power of expansion to increase the size of a small ray of sunlight peaking through the dark clouds of a rain storm, and this usually allows me to stay dry and warm even though all about me is soaking wet.
I simply gaze at the ray of sunlight with love in my heart and say the words, “please keep me warm and dry” and the ray starts to expand. I never forget to say thankyou.
Just a note about the Law of Polarity -a complete explanation of it can be found in The Kybalion, whose author is only given as Three Initiates. It really makes sense the way it’s described there. The essence of what they teach is that there is an ebb and flow to energy, which often manifests as positive and negative to us. Our challenge is to not to label things as bad or negative, so we can benefit from the “positive” and maintain a kind of neutrality when it turns “negative.”
Greetings Heather and Barry!!!
This is a great topic you have brought out. I do face this situation when I am trying to stay only in the positive state of mind. Well I am not successful at it all the time.
But I can surely say that whenever I am trying to live the moment, which I try to do all the time ( I am yet not able to do this 100% of the time either). If I am totally involved in the job at hand and am living the moment with this job and am visualizing only positive outcomes from the job then I mostly do the job well and feel positive emotions like happiness, confidence, boldness, etc.
Well I am trying to live the moment all the time, In my experience this becomes difficult when I am not doing something, now this is the time when my mind starts wandering, well I realize this and then try to come back to the moment, but its quite difficult to focus on the moment when you dont have anything to do then. I do try to concentrate on the beauty around in nature, point my thoughts to something nice, but somehow the mind bomerangs back to is old style of thinking when you really dont have a purpose for the moment.
I totally agree with the law of polarity and do belive that everything is a part of a whole, positive is not possible without negative, love wouldnt be known without hate, we couldnt say what is good if we didnt know what was bad. Hence clearly there could be no sense to everyhing without the law of polarity.
But I do think that if we try to make every moment purposeful i.e. have enough positive desires and corresponding thoughts in our mind such that we are occupied all the time with the purposes we have though about for ourselves, we would have sufficient positive outcomes to manifest which reduces the room for a negaive mindframe.
The negative mindframe is still going to come whenever possible as we wouldnt be complete without both positive and negative, I personally do feel that external factors do play a positive role in bringing about a negative mindframe to us, It is here where the strength and determination of staying positve really is tested, when you have something going wrong in what you were tring to do or be, possibly you made a mistake, but how do we think about his positively is the challenge, we could be in a negative situation but we surely have the experience of a lesson learned as the positive part of the situation, we need to be able to concentrate ony on what adds positive to us. Negatives are going to show up all the time, we just need to deduce on the the positive from the negative.
Thank You for bringing this topic and giveing me an opportunity to share my lessons.
Now there is a post that shines with wisdom. I have deep
reservations around the one-dimensional positive thinking mentality. Indeed, no yin without yang, etc.
Besides, the best things in my life have all occurred in
spite of me aiming for something else.
Yes, Like atracts like, but has anyone ever heard opposites attract too???
Has anyone discovered how motivating a certain “fear” can be?
I think that you guys balance out the secret…. hmmm
love it.
bc
oops just one more thing…
the secret does reveal that everything you have right now, you have manifested into your life. So, therefore, everyone has used the secret, with or without knowledge of it, and it has worked.
i have known the secret way before the movie came out, but it was a new medium and brought on a new perspective.
read some of the old books like the science of getting rich, think and grow rich, as a man thinketh and so on… you can too figure out the secret, because that is what it is taken from in the first place.
anyway, i did learn a lot from the talking ebook that i also apply and it keeps getting better.
10 years from now, there will be something even better and new ways to use it all.
Keep up the magnificent …
Barry and Heather,
Thank you again for all your wonderful work. Becoming a platinum member was easily one of the best “investments” I ever made. I feel like Neo after taking the “red pill” in the matrix, and continue to amaze myself everyday. I have used (continue to use) the laws of the universe to literally create my dream life with ease and abundance.
Here’s my personal take on manifesting that has worked wonders for me.
1) Our feelings are the energy that attract whatever we want or don’t want in our life. While we may have difficulties controlling the millions of thoughts running around in our minds everyday, we can easily control our feelings. Forget positive and negative, and simply focus on what you want. Remember, it’s the feelings that manifest.
2) We can only create in the now. Feel what it would be like if whatever you wanted was already in your possession, and know (believe) that it’s on its way. This is your faith, and faith moves mountains (creates miracles). The key is to feel what it would be like to have it NOW. Note - feelings of joy mean you’re in alignment (it’s on its way/here now), feelings of fear mean you’re not in alignment (repel it away).
3) Next, give thanks for everything in your life. This literally raises your energy to a higher level, which results in faster manifestiation.
4) Go about your day and watch for the miracles. There’s no such thing as a coincidence. Whatever happens (good or bad) is part of the path to your desires.
We are the ones who define things are good or bad, but really everything is perfect. Every good has a bad, and every bad a good, but together it’s one thing - “it is what it is”, and it is perfect (balanced).
Ester Hicks talks about there being a stream of only well-being, and bliss. We are either moving with this flow or against it (”being in the flow”). Enjoy the journey and you’ll go with the flow, or be at dis-ease with stress and worry, and you’ll find resistance.
When you feel fear and doubt, you should be excited. Use that fear to help you uncover what you do want, and focus on that. We create what we focus on. Focus on what you want! We are 100% responsible for everything in our lives.
Don’t judge on good or bad. Both will be present no matter what. Enjoy it, be thankful for it.
for every belief there is always someone you can find who is either indifferent or disagrees. so the better question is does it serve you? What works for you can not work for everyone else. The main thing is to remember that we all deserve to coexist peacefully…but wait we are still blowing people up because they pray to a different invisible avenger than us. I think that we need to reevaluate some of our beliefs. Place your labels on your world because that is your right as a sentient being but accept what is even as you seek to change it.
p.s there are infinite galaxies everywhere..in fact there are even microscopic spider like creatures living on your eyelashes..so to say that we know everything is misguided
Hi, my name is Tshwarelo from South Africa, Mpumalanga. I Think while The Secret is True, it is extreme by 20%, and not everyone will want to think they can have the universe in their palm. If you are interested in what I think, check this out, but don’t steal nothing.
God is a thought, or What do you think?
(In 2003 I wrote and completed a book titled God is a Thought, Or What Do You Think? This is such a controversial book, I will probably release it posthumously.)
Here is the Intro
WHETHER WE DEEM OURSELVES A CONSCIOUS PART OF IT OR NOT, religion is a ship on shore, sailing across the turbulent seas of life, and we are on board of it. Theological statistics amassed from various historical data show and prove that the majority of human beings the whole world over have a belief in God. Common logic does not dispute this, but goes on further to also prove that many of us have no responsibility for our beliefs (neither do we desire such responsibility); to the shameful extant that we only linger on the hope that our leaders will not disappoint us, for if they may one day wake up and say to us, “sorry but, I think we have been following a lie,” most of us would be at our wit’s end. Few believers, and sceptics, don’t comprehend the scholastic summon which to be religious or antireligious beings (more like witnesses) places on us; for every religion has basic truths, deep truths and ultimate truths; all of which need the attention of the believer or doubter in studious devotion. We cannot rely on our leaders forever, neither should we ignore their assertions which have so shaped society. What if they die or quit on us? Do we also die or quit on our beliefs? This book is a sheer reflection of our failure to be faithful to faith, and it is a heartfelt invitation for us to go, or come, behind the veil and seek truth for ourselves. It says affiliating to a faith is not enough, we need to be immersed in the faith; for if not, we are only playing a Boomerang game of religious hide-and-seek. That would be us hiding from ourselves, and seeking for belonging. It is not enough. Actually, it is dangerous. There’s a high likelihood that it can always come back and harm us.
Midweek and weekend sermons are from a practical perspective not enough – converts come and converts go, people change religions as much as babies change nappies; when they get tired of one religious vehicle, they simply jump into the next, regardless of the speed at which it is travelling. Such an awkward change is not done because truth has been found, but because truth is still being sought. This is something regarding the authenticity of faith that we should introspectively examine; instead of chasing for more supporters of our faiths, while permanently losing some, we should trace the thin air to which those who were once part of us vanished. It is surprising how we have been celebrating religion’s tumultuous rise from the sea; there’s an evil net of ecstasy fishing away our minds due to the large number of people we call Christians. Despite its 27 000 different sects and denominations all over the world, Christianity is celebrating “the next Christendom.” Nobody cares about the logistics of the belief/s, all they want is to see people coming in, and coming in. The book realises and alludes to the fact that having faith is claiming knowledge of the unknown, the above, the supreme; but how could we possibly profess knowledge in this state of ubiquitous ignorance? Every soul that orbits the parameters of existence is longing for truth – ignorance is endurance; without sounding fanatically Buddhist, let me say it causes a lot of suffering; whose cause we ignorantly don’t know. Without having to sound too Christian either, to be able to catch a fish, there is a thing called launching into the deep. Have we launched?
Fact: our leaders cannot escort us to where the God is and still enter with us into Its numinous property. Religion should not give us a fish, it should teach and encourage us how to fish. If we remain at the surface, we may not know whether beneath us is a landmine or goldmine. If we titter around the picket fence of faith we may not know whether it is heaven or hell that lies within the courts of our faith. Indeed, it would be perilous to claim knowledge of the God and still be found ignorant. Better are those who claim no knowledge of the God and do not dispute Its the idea either, than the worse majority who claim such but know zilch; topping that by fervently harbouring an incurable dose of hate for those who seek to know exactly what is it the believers believe in.
From personal experience with different stages of faith and different kinds of believers I have realised that human beings only enjoy being tied by a belief system; that’s the reason when one gets monotonous, they simply shift preference, and call it a revelation. It is better described as “path-evolution.” The more we walk down the path of religion, the more we discover that there’s an evolution of the believer that takes place. Today, preachers are no longer preaching what they did ten years ago. The God has revealed certain things to them.
Indeed, many of us are only committed to commitment; we are unashamedly devoted to devotion; we cannot answer for our God although we serve as ambassadors. Many unbelievers ask, “why would a righteous God let the devil spread unrighteousness on earth like this God was on holiday?” Instead of finding an opportunity to present faith, doubt comes out only to be suppressed while a billow of toxic suspicion fills the mental rooms of the one asked. People begin to rage, isolate themselves and ostracise the world; bedevilling it, and tagging it demonic, depraved and devoid of truth, because they are afraid they can’t answer for their own faith. But what is that truth? So we ask. Why have faith at all if we are not willing to learn about its contents and origins, its prospective objectives and the practical results? Why won’t we leave the elementary teachings behind and grow in knowledge, surfing on the blowing tides of the ocean of truth? Without risking a Christian tone, I believe we should count the cost of swearing our allegiance with a religion; its leaders should caution us and give us a chance to weigh the sustainability and plausibility of the pros and cons. It is so unfunny what people are taught when they embrace a new faith; is not the tenets and credos of that faith, but the propaganda about other faiths. This is a Compulsive Faith Competition Syndrome, from which many faiths suffer; it is caused by an apathy to go deeper into the entrails of faith and a fear to be overtaken by other advancing faiths. Everyone thinks their faith is the true one and others the epitome of fake. Thus, it encourages inevitable tendencies to hurl about the malicious tentacles of slander against other faiths and/or denominations.
This syndrome is taxing to faith’s credibility. It is no wonder to see a 14-year-old Palestinian Muslim adherent flanking himself with C4-explosives and launching into a restaurant or bus, going all-out to detonate himself and his precious little physical life to rubble, for the sake of a faith upon whose basic truths he has merely travelled. All he wants is to be deemed a Shahid. It is indeed hardly surprising to hear of a Christian who starved his children to death for the sake of fasting and praying. It’s all over the news: Christians in Nigeria in an Amargeddon with Muslims; the orthodox church versus the power-claim of the charismatic; a Christian cleric on pulpit braying that people should give and tithe generously to an emotional God who feels defrauded, yet neither hungers nor thirsts; wealthy pastors opportunistically using a verse from Jewish antiquity within a New Testamentist Gentile-accommodating context have created a polemic atmosphere from which we view the church. Leaders who make people quit their jobs, sell their property, give all the material wealth in exchange for eternal life; virile men and women who partially offer their sexuality on the altar of a monastery or convert, to a later revelation of decayed foetuses under a bridge, aborted to cover the sins of the saints; this is all old news to us. It won’t be the first or the last time that news catches wind about the fornication of political wars with religious instigations. Russia and many communist states have been rumoured to have their foundation built upon Satanism, while America and all its cronies are built upon an evangelical ideology of imperialism. All war is a matter of religion. Christian/Islamic/Jewish martyrdom, kamikaze pilots and hijackers; human rights violations yoked with cult movements and linkages of states with worship circles have well driven before our eyes into an unpalatable scrap garage. The astigmatic calls for the reinstatement of an eclectic biblically passable death penalty in the South African justice system. Christian/Islamic Fundamentalism and Asian Nationalism for and against American Patriotism all come espoused by one polygamous consort: a belief in the God. This belief is not only strong, but various, contradictory, and very psychological in nature. Pathological. It is a psycho-epistemology that borders strictly on the metaphoric preference of knowledge and its examination, with overwhelming counter evidence merely treated as blasphemy or insanity.
Child-rearing is simultaneously involved, with the idea of the God introduced to the thoughts of the infant. It is a pity that our children are welcomed with open religious arms into the world, to be “Christened” and named after biblical greats, or ancestral monads; thus intoxicated with an opium of the welcoming party’s indoctrination. And I thought politicians were the only ones hungry for votes!
Being of an alcoholically strong Christian antecedence, I had a serious problem dealing with other people’s view of the God. Somebody I knew once made me angry when he spoke what I considered to be blasphemous words against our God. He had a similar background and he had just come from a year of study at the Durban Westville University, which I thought had bedevilled him. He asked me if I’d be believing in Jesus had I grown up in Iran. He told me that the God must have been evil to let those Eastern/Middle East children grow under intense Islamic teaching and still expect them to convert to a very suspect and outlandish Christianity; worse burn them in the everlasting infernos of hell if they died unrepentant Muslims. I called him demonic; not because I felt he had demons, but because I felt he had a point; a point with which it was extremely difficult for me to agree. A point that placed my theology under extreme fire and scrutiny. Today, I look back at my mind-rigging historical Christian indoctrination and my lack of deeper knowledge then, and I am overwhelmed with indignation. I do not hate Christianity, I simply dislike the contradiction found in the centre of all religious mechanisms and their ever-escalating fallacious paradigms. Talk of a spiritually fanatic obsession with the opium of paradox. Funny almost every Christian hates some form of Christianity. So who’s right and who’s wrong? Whose theology gets the heavenly thumbs-up? Muslims as well, as far as I know, have embraced or endured the push of multiplicity. This is what Geoffrey K. Nelson calls “religious creativity.”
At the depth of the book you find what appears to be an antireligious belligerence; as I reveal that the psychology of religion results in a weird individual anthropology. Fact: You cannot be religious and still call yourself an individual; you are a community, for within you is a carriage of all the traditional-cultural-socio-political dictates of your religion. You are not yourself, you are what you were told you should be. You strive for perfection when you know damn well that no one can be perfect. You are practically trying so hard to be nothing. No wonder many mental illnesses have been linked with affiliation to religion. Many serial killers have always had the idea that they were serving the God’s purpose. religion breeds no individuals at all. Yet, the search for individualism does not justify an uncanny anti-religiosity, neither should it inspire such a littered mental attitude. The God forbid!
The only thing that one can do is to divorce oneself from the marriage of self and their religion, step back, pick up a holy book, and begin to search for this God. You will not finish four religious books without having found It, the true God. All we need is to excuse ourselves from the traditions of our sexual-genealogically transmitted quasi-knowledge that we rely upon, and begin a quest to seek for real knowledge; surely a true God will not let us be deceived when we earnestly, not necessarily desperate however, seek for It. the God is right under our nose (between our ears).
I think it is a serious burden upon parents; they should let their children learn more about the God from a wide view spectrum than to breed a nation of hateful believers of error. It is surely error when I grow up believing that Zoroastrians, Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, Hindus, Buddhists, Anglicans, Inyangas, Magicians, Jews and all die helle are pagans and heathens whose teachings are epidemically heretic; deserving of ultimate eschatology. (In fact every religion is a heresy in the eyes of the next religion.) These are but crumbs of my disturbing upbringing: distrusting and very paranoid; and both my distrust and paranoia were not unnecessary, because all these people as well were taught to be on the watch-out for people like me. I had what they called a discerning spirit; it was a demon. But now, without sounding too Christian, I am delivered. This was all a devilish thought of the God implanted like a timebomb inside of me. It was a holy dangerous thought. That’s a thought I can do without. For now my thoughts are renewed, I am filled with knowledge that would bring men of the book to their knees – for to me today, is no distinction found between or amongst all the various Gods the world is daily presenting to its newly born: they are all the one God, just one human thought.
Today, through this book, I claim that I am the answer to the apostle Paul’s wishful request to know Jesus – Jesus, not as the Christians preach him, let alone know him, or as the anti-Christian veto him. For Christianity, in all its claims, is not Jesus, neither could it ever be, but it is merely one of the prominent admirers of Jesus. This man, this divine Mind, was and is, bigger than Christianity. Much bigger. Eternally bigger. An everlasting thought, from an ever-elaborate thinker. The Christian religion that my parents and their parents and all other believers helped give to me cannot in the least contain this Jesus. I have come, in this book, to find the independence of Jesus from the intricate Christian point of view. Jesus, to me, is the iconoclastic symbol of the Herodean era, whose historically anachronistic birth declared, indeed subdued, ancient and future time under the Anno Domino permanence. History, together with its twin sister the optimist’s future, have always conceived, and will always conceive, human and superhuman figures like Abraham Lincoln, Queen Elizabeth, Martin Luther King, Hitler, Shaka Zulu, Mother Theresa, Chief Luthuli, Mandela, Botha, Zeus, Prometheus, the Fates, etc.; all who did transform and reconstruct the world’s manifold and chronologically marked eras; however, the womb of history – from its hallowed virginity to its deified maternity, has never carried an offspring as delicate, as colossal, and as mysteriously rapturous as Jesus of Nazareth. (This is unfortunately found in part two of the book, where I explain Jesus not as the world knows him.) Jesus brought knowledge to the world; not about the divine creation of the world, but about the creativity of human thought – this is found in Chapter two, under the subtitle: Jesus I know, Paul I know, but who are you?
Therefore, the purpose of this book is to say that we need such knowledge. Believers and non-believers alike; we need this knowledge. Leaders as well are found to be without knowledge, or with it but unwilling to share it, thus leaving believers in utter confusion. Where is the truth? One of my friends says, “a lie told a million people becomes the truth.” He says the truth amounts to what people agree to believe in without anyone objectively disputing the agreement. Is that the truth of our faith, and/or doubt? If it seems to be the case, it is only a case of hopeless escapism.
W
hat this book says is that it is time to grow, time to launch into the deep, time to ask, to knock, indeed time to find. But first be prepared to be shocked. This is a non-ritualistic initiation into religious maturity. An invitation to celebrate a God conceived or perceived by human thought. In the very first chapter the book opens you to a world of questions. I do not question the idea of the God but I question us who believe in, or doubt, It. Why do we believe there’s a God? Why don’t we believe there’s a God? Who is this God, who is she not? What is this God, what is it not?
For me personally, there is no religious question that can be hard to answer. I can take any question coming from any direction. I can take it all. I can face any religious leader, but I doubt if they can face me. I am the third degree of the religious world. I eat knowledge for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. I am only ignorant during sleep, but very knowledgeable in my unconscious – wake me up, you have a man who knows what he’s talking about. You may call this arrogance, but there’s a wild rumour that arrogance comes with success. See I love the God with all my facts. This is what I want all of us to be like; if it is too hard, to at least come close. We cannot go ahead and believe in things we know not about. One great teacher once said, “ye worship, but ye know not what.” It can be asked, who was the “ye” in that hard statement, (or was it criticism?) Could that be me? Could that be you? Who are these “ye worship?” I don’t want it to be me, and I know you wouldn’t want that to be you either.
Chapter two of the book deals with the location of our God. We always preach a God who is in heaven, but it’s very difficult to imagine where heaven is found. Is it the same world as the one we live in? Or is it another world in another different reality beyond the Milky Way? The Holy Books are placed in an awkward situation, as we weigh the material golden streets, streams and fountains against the immaterial Elysium of saints, and see if spirituality has not become scientific, and/or if science has not become spiritual. In this chapter we explore how sensitive, indeed delicate and private, man’s relationship with their God is; how intimate, how very personal. In secret we all doubt the God, regardless of whether we think it has done great things, including miracles, for us. Yet again in secret, we all believe the God, whether we think it has done woeful things in our lives and in the world. A man would give up his own family, his own job, his own lifestyle – he would give up all he has, even his manhood, just for this God; he has a private affair with God, a sensitive madness. A woman would give up pleasure and vow to remain chaste for this God. I have come across people who quit higher professions and renounced caste for their God, people who donated all their physical wealth, people who even risked their health, for the sake of this God. But for the God’s sake, if man is so deeply and mentally involved with the God, it is then his reality or at least part of it and he and his God deserve a thorough exploration. The chapter explores the complications of man’s faith against being faithless. Hope versus faith and faith versus hopelessness. It’s a war in here – in our minds.
One once mentioned that religion is the opium of the masses, and this was surely not a criticism but an honest observation. I am very religious, but I see that there is something amiss with religion – it has become distorted; it no longer searches for the truth nor does it give humanity the truth but it creates its own truth. And that, is a lie. After the book, it will be difficult to criticise other people’s faiths, and yet, it will be more difficult to accept anyone’s faith.
Chapter three is the centre of the book, (like I indicated earlier, the book actually has two parts and six chapters, but this is only part one of it), which will get you ready for a very revolutionary part two. This book takes the God and puts It in the sky such that one vividly sees Its image such that It cannot be denied. (In fact, this God receives the justice of being set free from the male gender limit that our patriarchal world has forced It to live in.) Just when one was becoming comfortable with having faith in the God in the skies, the book abruptly snatches the God from the skies to inside one’s mind, so that greater becomes the one in one’s mind than the one in the world. This is a question of an individual’s intrinsic construction of outer reality.
A great rabbi once went about preaching the coming of the kingdom of the God and calling people to repentance; when they sought repentance he told them that no man can enter the kingdom without being born again. When they became born again and hoped to see the kingdom, he told them it was not by observation and could not be seen with the naked eyes but was within them. This makes it difficult to locate the kingdom of the God, for we honestly do not want the God living in us, but we prefer It lolling far away, holy and untouched by the blemish of human activity. This then gives us a self-righteous chance to later invoke it from afar, shrieking out in poetic prayers and supplication. Thus, the outcry of Jesus’ twelve, “then who shall be saved?”
A philosopher once said that the God changes, because It has a maternally personal relationship with the world, and this relationship affects It, and if It can be affected it is open to development and growth. So the more involved with human life It is, the more the God grows. This might be true as explored in this book; just when you begin to enjoy the God within you, I pull It out and make you see with your eyes exactly what It can do through you. For the God being in you does not render It useless but gives full meaning to It being called the God (creator). This here will be good stuff for transfo-motivational speakers. It will be a very bitter book for atheists and believers the same.
The emphasis is that the God is definitely not dead, but very alive in our thoughts. The existence of the God is only valid in the fact that reality can be separated into two: essential and substantial. The God is an essential reality, which can only exist in our minds. It will never die as long as human beings continue to think. The God will never have a grave as long as its worshippers persist in worshipping It; for regardless of what it does or does not do, Its death can only be declared by the death of worship, and worship not being singing and crying during praying sessions, but mentally placing this God above the situations of life and all human capability. Our dialogues, monologues and soliloquies will always be stamped with the Oh-My-God remarks. I swear with all my intelligence, the God will never die, as much as worship will never cease to be part of us who live. Ira Shikansky says, in his 1996 book Rituals of Conflict: religion, politics and public policy in Israel, that “proclamations of God’s death have been premature.” Indeed no man dead or alive may kill the God, no dead or living man may. The God has lodged in what evolution deems the Homo Sapiens’ Broca’s area.
The only question posed is whether the God created the human mind (not brain), or whether the human mind created the God. For we can only know the God through our thoughts, and when we say we are convinced that the God exists, it is only through our thoughts. How do we know that we know? We simply think so. We may search all we can, trace history, travel future, pray or cuss, the final location of the God is the human mind. No wonder the Christian Adonai took sin from being a physical taboo to being a mental glitch. “Whoever looks at a woman lustfully has committed adultery.” He made sin to have nothing to do with a physical ritual and discipline, but to have everything to do with the mind. The God is our thoughts, as multiple and various as they come, as good or evil as they come. These thoughts we may call spirit, for spirit is an immaterial being, and our thoughts are definitely immaterial although the loudspeaker (the brain) that they use is material. Biological studies have proven that one may only see the brain, but the mind is a hypothetical work. From page to page, literary (scriptural) proof is brought in and common sense is begged to intervene. One epistle writer once wrote to a certain group of believers, saying, “compare scriptures to see if I am not in error, see it for yourself.” And that’s the attitude of this book, compare with any book and see it for yourself. When the biblical Jesus argued with spiritual leaders, he did not say they did not pray enough or that they never went to church, the mosque or synagogues enough; he only played the literature card, saying, “you err for you know not the scriptures.” Everything we know is based on information we have received. It only takes knowledge of scripture or historical documents to be at the other side of error. The fault with us is that we have read too many commending/rebuking/consoling/reassuring letters and books that tell us to believe scriptures and follow certain laws but we have never sought to know what scriptures were. What does scripture have to do with the human mind? Why did Jesus come to earth and why did the Holy Bible and the Holy Qur’an call him the Mind (Logos) of the God? What did this mysterious Jesus think we were?
To Chuck M’s post, I can say nothing more than “AMEN!”
And to everyone — no matter what you believe, practice #3 in his list. This is what makes everything all come together.
I had a problem with the Law of Attraction from the start given how nature, physics and metaphysics works. You’ve helped out a lot here pointing out that in fact opposite polarities need to exist in any system.
I believe to attract money, one must develop the correct mindset. Those who have been successfuly at generating (and keeping) their wealth, have a very frugal mindset when it comes to managing money. Conversely, those who never seem to have money, have the completely opposite mindset - they establish in their thoughts the idea of spending money, not accumulating it.
To Heather’s point, I believe that negative thoughts cannot be extinguished. It is how we manage those thoughts, not how we subdue them that determines our success.
Thanks for a refereshing post.
I think a little perspective might help here. The idea that we can wipe out negative thoughts so that they never ocur is never going to happen and I dont think it was Rhonda’s intent to make it seem that simple. Rather, I suspect she was borrowing from Esther Hicks ( and others) who propose that by making small shifts in negative thinking towards a positive view is crucial to helping us realign our Vibrations to attract more or better outcomes.
Lets remember - all emotions are meant so that we can feel life and have guideposts as to how and what events mean to us. There is nothing inherently wrong with a negative emotion. Where it becomes problematic is when it sticks with us, by repating the event image and emotion over and over or by creating habitual ways of thinking (responding) to issues. A great deal of work has been done in psychology, EFT NLP and by other metaphysical masters to help us deal effectively with stuck emotions. Emotions are meant to serve us in the moment. When they stick around longer they do us a diservice. They rob us of our abilty to make in-the-moment decisisons about our life.
So- I think Rhonda’s statement was too light in detail to be helpful to the base of people who are currently looking to her for inspiration and guidance.
I’ve come very late to this topic, but I see the last post mentions emotions. From my point of view, positive thinking and changing your thoughts is not what it’s all about. We are creatures of emotion and emotion is the energy that drives us. It’s time now to move away from the power of positive thinking and work on positive feeling. A “positive thought” goes nowhere if it is forced and the underlying feeling remains negative and contradicts the thought. Affirmations are “words on the wind” if they’re not matched by positive feelings. However, changing one’s feelings will automatically attract more reasons to feel good - the Law of Attraction working with the energy of the feeling. In my experience, the mind-body connection works both ways - posture and expression can influence thoughts and feelings; put a frown on your face and your mind will seek a reason for that negative expression; put a smile on your face and your mind will look for reasons to support that expression. The physical expression and posture can influence the thoughts and feelings because the mind seeks to create a reason for it. So, we have a very powerful way of changing our feelings - create the outward expression and the inner expression will follow. Change your feelings and you change your energy levels. I may be flying in the face of all the “experts” but my own work has adequately demonstrated to me that feelings, emotions, are the key to change.
It’s “all” an illusion (a dream). Neither “good” nor “bad”. It is what we perceive it to be. Every post had “food for thought”. I am thankful for this moment.
Okay, here’s my take.
What if whatever you are “suffering” with or experiencing is simply trying to get your attention! Ask as I did when I recently had this revelation, what is this _______(fill in the blank) trying to tell me.
My wonderful partner of 28 years (Dean) and I had had a recurring financial disaster scenario for about 28 years….
And it was showing it’s ugly head again.
At the same time Dean was horribly ill. We kept looking at the symptoms to determine what was wrong. AHA!!
What if financial struggle was a symptom? Not the problem. Like a medical issue the illness has symptoms, Dean’s were fever, chill, migaines, nausea you get idea. And we all know treating the symptoms without “curing” the source will only result in the symptpms recurring!!
Now we may be on to something!!
So if financial struggle is the symptom. The next question is What’s the problem?
At this point I remembered a technique I had heard about. To write down your question and review it before going to sleep with the intention that you will clearly receive and understand the answer to your question and you will clearly remember and write the answer down when you wake up. I use EFT so I “tapped in” this intention before going to sleep.
I received the answer LOUD & CLEAR…and made the changes necessary to end that financial cycle once and for all. I feel so LIBERATED!
So the next time you feel awful, maybe it’s doing it’s best to get your attention so you can recognize it, realize it, do something about it, and get past it once and for all!!
Maybe it’s just your Soul or Spirit doing it’s best to help you live the Extraordinary life you were meant to….
Wonderful story Jarrah! I have also found EFT to be profoundly effective in dealing with persistent “negative” emotional states & distressing situations of all kinds aswell as providing unexpected & creative solutions in stuck & deadlocked situations.
I agree it’s not about positive thinking but about FEELING, but I also think Barry & Heather do injustice to the Secret Movie as a whole as this crucial element is often enough mentioned, even if Rhonda ostensibly well-meaning advice about the negative thinking may appear of little solace to alot of would-be manifestors.
But I’m glad to see that the crux of the issue is finally being exposed in this & other enlightening posts on your blog, which is a valuable asset to everyone who doesn’t wish to silence their critical thinking faculty (CTF :)) ,which is sometimes valuable as a function of the whole & as such imo is part of the IGS (anyone familar with the Tarot will know that the Ace of Swords represents the critical thinking faculty underpinned by intuitive reasoning that gets to the heart of things).
Desperate for a solution after having experienced on a number of occasions the bipolar states described by John DeMartini & a “chronic prosperity block/reversal”, I stumbled upon EFT only in December of last year but what a difference it has made in my life.! WOW! I have successfully neutralized a large number of core limiting beliefs regarding Abundance & Prosperity. The erroneous files have just been permanently deleted fom my internal hard disk lol much to my amazement!
Imho the simple crux of the matter is how to get rid of negative thoughts..:(…:) which always arise NOW the only moment there is..
The question which has plagued me & many of us since watching the Secret. My inquiry led me to discover that every negative thought is attached to a feeling, so if I can find a way to neutralize the effects of, embrace or come to terms with that feeling through whatever means available to me then I could at least from begin from a state of neutrality / equilibrium, safe in the knowledge that I was no longer “attracting bad stuff”, & I could then use that state of equilibrium as a platform to reprogram myself with a higher energy vibration.
Even affirmations which I have been doing for years & which had lost their impact have magically gained a new lease of life now that the hidden lurking negative self talk has been identified & dispatched. Interestingly there is also very useful piece of software called the Sculptor 3 which works along similar principles which has proven to be effective for alot of people
I suddenly found with the help of EFT among other techniques (like Arnold Patent’s Feeling Exercise, the Sedona Method etc.) that I could do just that.Meditation (which I have practised in a number of forms over the years when I was once upon a time in search of so-called spiritual enlightenment aka the [permanently] desireless state/nirvana which doesn’t exist I’m sad/happy to say lol) often just stirred up the junk in the subconscious & made things apparently worse, which always happens at some point when you decide to go deeper to connect with your Source, so these invaluable ontological software tools like EFT have proved just the thing to fix & clear up any “errors” in the form of a backlog of hidden limiting beliefs & stuck emotions/issues (”tail-enders” as Gary Craig the founder of EFT calls them) & raise my vibration & free me of fear –the one emotion behind all of them !
.
Although I feel joy when I read accounts of people who have ” beginner’s luck” through their “beginner’s mind” ( a Zen term for a spontaneous childlike & unprejudiced approach to life) after being exposed to the Secret movie for the first time, my heart goes out to those who seem to have to struggle like I did for some unknown reason & I hope for their breakthrough, so I’m shamelessly plugging this marvelously simple & effective technique & the many others like it which I have looked into & studied over the past year, & there are plenty I discovered like: BSFF, Freeway-CER,the Sedona Method, the Power Pause,The Feeling Exercise, Reiki, Angel/spirit guides (who are in fact the conduit for the Higher Self and that part of us that speaks to us exclusively via our intuition / inner voice & who have been with us all our lives) and hope that they will all find a way to manifest their goals & dreams easily & effortlessly.
In fact on the EFT website they now have a video produced by the makers of the Secret! I’m surprised that it isn’t more frequently advertised in connection with LOA, as there are a number of very accomplished EFT Master practitioners such as Carol Look, Dr.Patricia Carrington & Steve Wells,Rue Hasse who are right up there on the cutting edge in their use of EFT in conjunction with LOA & the “magneto-energetic attraction process” (MEAP lol))…
& yet I still see on forums & blogs so many people complaining & bemoaning how the LOA just doesn’t seem to work for them! With EFT you finally get to do something about it at the very least to clear the neurosis & obsession surrounding the whole issue which can’t be a bad thing– A great place to start to go deeper on one’s manifesting journey & reclaim the power hidden in the limiting beliefs/”writing on our walls” we have created in the past .
You can google these EFT Masters, or visit the main EFT site:www.emofree.com — for those who are unfamiliar with it as I was (and I am sure there are plenty or else I suspect they wouldn’t be searching blogs like these endlessly in search of answers which actually are already within them–no offense I think this blog is fantastic !)– get a free downloadable manual to learn it yourself in as quick as half an hour,& thrice weekly free newsletter, although obviously serious study is recommended to really get it down properly).
It cuts out alot of the need for mentalizing, analyzing, speculating, philosophizing, & gets you to the nitty-gritty of clearing out the energetic basin of subconscious limiting beliefs putting you straight in touch with your IGS . It does this in a gentle but extremely effective way with laser-like precision, based on a thorough understanding of the Law of Polarity/polarity reversal you talk about here .
It’s my sincere wish that more people would be exposed to this information which a few of the Secret mentors mentioned casually in passing on Oprah.Hopefully they might have the good sense to devote any planned sequel to the Secret to this crucial aspect, this missing link of the “polarity puzzle” ie.the “how do I get rid of negative thoughts/emotions which can sometimes seem overpowering?”
I’m grateful for having been able to share my thoughts with everyone, hope they receive value from my ramblings & wish you all Great Good Fortune Abundance & Happiness in every possible form..:))!

What if the Universe or God was the supreme enjoyer and we were not focused on whatever happens to us as good or bad. We can always have that kind of awareness that in quantity we may be like God but not in quantity. “He” is the ocean and we are the drops. On the material plane we just attract whatever for ourselves. Doing high frequency activities or spiritual stuff will bring us to a higher frequency dimension, of course only when we leave the material body. Maybe what I am trying to say is - are we being happy for ourselves or are we being happy for others also or happy being connected to the Supreme being.I guess realizations will always have higher or lower meanings for us individuals and I just wish all of you guys all the happiness in the universe wherever all of you are!
